Child Survival India
“Traditionally people in lot of places value #marriage more than #education of the #girls” We are still a long way from achieving equality in education for girls and #boys. One of the barriers to achieving “Education for all” is early marriage, or the marriage of school-age children. Help us break this barrier. support us: http://goto.gg/17326 (http://childsurvival-india.org/)

I met so so many incredible girls and women in my recent travels to India and Sri Lanka! But these two friends studying on the banks of the backwaters in Kerala left a lasting impression on my heart and with their permission I have this photo to remember the moment by. There may be no cause I believe in more wholeheartedly than global education for girls. An educated girl is an empowered girl. Advocating for a girls education has a ripple effect for all the people around her with significant impact beyond even her own life. When I asked these two if they were studying they looked at me as if to say duh! (Kerala has one of the highest literacy rates in India.) But as someone who has spent time in classrooms in India and at home for whom books and school has been such a positive force...I couldnt help but smile hugely when my friend and I came upon this scene. Today is a gentle reminder to speak up for and support the empowerment of women not just in your community but all that you come across in your journey. Together we rise... #internationalwomensday #kerala #backwaters #loveindia #lovetheworld #traveldeeper #educationiseverything
