I get messages from people saying they want to transform their stairs for a runner but are worried their staircase isn’t in a good enough condition…. It’s amazing what some filler, patience and mdf can actually do! Full step by step on how the stairs was transformed can be found on my page… I had no idea what was under the underlay from the previous carpet… Whoever had laid it before had got very carried away with the staple gun so it took 6 hours to tirelessly remove them, fill, sand caulk and use flexible MDF around the bottom step to give the illusion of the stairs sitting on-top of downstairs floor and cover the uneven finish. For context our house is almost 30 years old, and these are the stairs that was put in when it was
