The inspiration behind Karoline’s collection comes from her fascination with the sea, in particular corals. She wanted to study the free-flowing shapes, textures and vibrant colours and capture the qualities in a variety of methods and mediums. The technical aspect of re-creating these forms through a knitted medium found numerous challenges. .. Karoline Hermansen

by Bonnie Inouye...My latest double weave was part of a warp done in mid-October. I washed it recently and took photos yesterday. The background is a single layer of cloth (twill) and the blue shapes are two layers of plain weave. The bottom layer has a shrinking weft and the top layer does not shrink, so it puckers. Both warps are cotton, 8/2 and 10/2. One weft is high-twist, very fine Lyocell (Tencel) and the other weft is a two-ply rayon/cotton which is thicker than the warp.
