Vernacular Modernism- found in all countries behind the Iron Curtain during the second half of the 20th century. These ubiquitous constructions were made of scrap steel bars ("rebars") or hollow sections roughly welded together. Usually only straight segments were used – irregular triangular patterns ("cracked ice") were the most popular – but there are many examples of curved and circular ones that form radial sun-like (or spider-web) motives.
