Another old fave colourised. Original OOC as far as I'm aware. There is a fairly appalling film about Passhendaele, plot and subtexts letting down some good acting. Shame really. Having said that I'm not sure how you make a film which is basically about people slowly drowning under shellfire. I read somewhere that only the chap at the MG survived this particular debacle unharmed, all of the other men in this photo were injured, died or vanished.

24 April 1915 - 2nd Battle of Ypres. The Germans release a 2nd attack of chlorine gas, this time against the Cdn lines. ILLUSTRATION: There are no photos of the 2nd Battle of Ypres. The Canadians would not yet hire an official photographer for another year. And the British Army had confiscated all cameras in early 1915. We are left to the newspaper illustrations of the day. This one, called "Men Under Gas" from the Times History of the War Illustrated, 1915.
