Kadaknath chickens are very highly regarded, and their unique appearance easily elicits wonder. We try to uncover just how special these black chickens are.

The Ayam Cemani chicken is steeped in mysticism and prized in its native land of Java for its magic blood. It is rather unusual, having entirely black feathers, black comb, black skin, black meat, black internal organs, and even black bones.

Two weeks ago I was at the Orchideeënhoeve in Luttelgeest. As always a day full of colors, smells and lots of beautiful things. The icing on the cake was a poultry exhibition.
