As a child I loved pop-up books. A friend once sent me a pop-up postcard of the Alhambra in Granada, Spain featuring a thoughtful, solitary figure. It was a beautiful, inspiring card.

I comb antique markets in search of beautiful, well loved vintage books. Because these book sculptures are viewed from every angle, I look for tomes with unique and colorful cover artwork and titles. The process of transforming this book involved trimming and painting the pages into a lovely butterfly in flight.
