At the death of winter, the locals celebrate the return of longer days with a Lantern Festival. As the lanterns float down the river, if you look just right, locals swear you may just see a Spirit of Spring trotting above the water, bringing the flowers to bloom.

A MOC of the stop motion puppet of the same name created by the enormously talented Anya Boz www.instagram.com/p/Bxs0nKFJ7qh/ The second I saw this design I fell in love and absolutely had to build it. I hope you all like it as much as I do. The eyes, antler and spine tips and underbelly are all glow in the dark just like on the original as well.

Loosely based on Chinese guardian lions or 'foo dogs' as some call them. This MOC was a fun exercise in using Lego cloth elements as a flexible skin around an inner frame. The result is a very cohesive look with some fun patterns that would be very hard to achieve otherwise. The MOC has several points of articulation that allow it to take a natural sitting pose. One rotation in the torso behind the shoulders, hollow thighs for the back legs to fold up, and a rotation at the base of the tail…

The phoenix is a mythical creature embodying the concept of resurrection, as symbolized in this fantastic creation by @dv_mocs. But will it be enough to bring Bionicle back?
