Sure there is skill involved, but above all else kids do better when they believe that they can and will do well. Students find missing side lengths of right triangles and the areas and perimeters of the triangles in this activity that doubles as classroom décor. Students practice using the Pythagorean Theorem while also using their logic to figure out area and perimeter. Students love seeing their work displayed. Even my older students loved displaying their math worksheets on our classroom math bulletin board. Math pennants are a fun way to display student-created work while giving them a fun activity to color (while practicing their math-- shhhh!). Students won't feel like they are working and in the end you'll have the perfect math classroom display that students are proud of.

Students love showing off their work. In my classroom we have a bulletin board called "The Fridge" where students can choose to hang their graded papers. Incorporating student work right into classroom decor is a fun way to decorate a classroom and increase student buy-in.
