Claudia de Yong on Instagram: "We talk about having meadows of wild flowers for Spring and Summer but how about this as a beautiful alternative when using species Tulips. The whole combination comes alive with one variety of Tulip 🌷in this case Tulipa kaufmanniana ‘Ice Stick’ (good as a it flower too) rising above a sea carpet of blue Chionodoxa forbesii. A spreading Prunus x yedoensis frames the entire scene in the background, with it’s spreading outstretched branches it seems to be hugging the flowers below. Later on in the season, Paeonies create a second layer in the planting. As they say - be different and stand out from the crowd and this surely makes for impact and effect beyond the standard meadow style planting.
