The origins of the red dragon are somewhat unclear but there are several possibilities as to how is became a Welsh symbol. One possibility is that it came from the story of Lludd and Lleffelys who decided to trap two warring dragons in a pit filled with mead in Dinas Emrys in Snodonia.
