British companies in haven sectors are having a good crisis
One week after the result of the British referendum wrongfooted markets, it is clear that some London-based companies are having a good crisis. Investors have fled to companies with sufficient overseas earnings to benefit from sterling’s weakness, or linked to gold and other precious metals as they appreciate in value. Companies that sell essential goods that can withstand a weakening of the domestic economy have also benefited, as well as those with emerging markets exposure.
