John Hughes (filmmaker) - Wikipedia
John Hughes (Director of The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, etc.) I grew up with his movies and now that I'm grown, I find them to be so relevant to my own life. His films may be a little dated in the scenary and clothes (which can't be helped) but the subject matter is definitely timeless.

Legendary film-maker Bergman dies aged 89
Swedish filmmaker, writer and producer, Ingmar Bergman. His gritty, realistic films don't embrace the "feel good" style of movies that Hollywood produces. He had the courage to take on darker topics, such as death, loneliness and the anguish of the human soul. I think he was a brilliant man and adore his films. Fanny and Alexander is my favorite.
