~ Hunt terriers ~
Hunt terriers ~ a rare and nearly lost breed. There are 2 types ~ smooth and coarse haired. Originating in Ireland, almost became an extinct breed as Jack Russels grew in popularity (Jacks were derived from Hunt terriers) Now only making a comeback. Once you own a Hunt terrier you will never go back to any other breed of dog. Smartest, quickest learning dogs I have ever had the pleasure of owning. My Mr. Peugeot is top dog here :)

The German Hunting Terrier was developed in 1920s Germany for hunting small game & killing vermin. It does this quite happily, regardless of cold, above or below ground, on land or water, whether tracking game or retrieving it. It also has a handy, low-maintenance coat. Because it is quite independent & tends to bite first & question later, it can be a useful watchdog, but it's mostly kept by hunters. The German Hunting is not suited to urban living nor frequent interactions with other dogs.
