Letter to his mother in Ireland, written by Col. Thomas Joseph Kelly in NYC. Very good insight on what conditions were like for immigrants arriving in NYC in the 1800s. And it shows how his continuous support of the Fenian movement left him unable to help his own family in Ireland. (The first bit was either missing or unreadable, retyped here by me.)
