The coronal view depicts the brain when viewed from the front after being divided along the plane depicted in the lateral view. The midsaggital view is derived from dividing the brain in the midline and depicts the medial surface of the right half of the brain. Arrows emanating from the midsaggital view point to more detailed depictions of limbic structures and the brainstem, which are in the same orientation as the midsaggital view. Retractors in the lateral view separate the temporal lobe from the frontal operculum to reveal the insula. In the coronal view, the underlined term “basal ganglia” refers to the four structures listed immediately below (caudate nucleus, putamen, globus pallidus, nucleus accumbens). | Facebook
