In France they call this “La Pause” and the concept is applied to many aspects of parenting (including sleep)! It’s so natural for us to want to save the day as mums. We want our babies to feel happiness and contentment always! I mean look at her face she was so devastated when she didn’t make it that first time. As a mum, I just wanted to scoop her up and fix it!! But it’s not always about what I want. She *really* wanted to roll over. And at that point, it was my job to help her do it herself. The same goes for sleep. Babies are NOISY SLEEPERS!! For new parents this is not always known and results in rushing in to help them when they wiggle or squeak! Which ends up disrupting their sleep. So next time your baby is trying to grab a toy, roll over, stand, walk, of if they squeaks and wiggle in the middle of the night…PAUSE. And let me know how it goes!
