Living on the left hand side of Old Clare Street were the Gormans; Grimes Garage was also there as was Walshs coalyard; the Kennedys, Russell’s Bakery garage; Conways Bros. coach builders and Mary Anne Walsh’s pigs toe shop was also situated there. Residents on the right were the Grimes, O’Mahonys, Lillis’, Collins, Morans, Hardimans, Hennessys, and Brian Merriman, the famous poet was also resident there at No. 5.
