"This is an antique hand-colored lithograph of Siebold's Clematis...Latin name Clematis Sieboldii which was custom-framed circa 1950 to 1960. The lithograph was an illustration (Plate 147) in Volume IV of Paxton's Magazine of Botany, published 1838 by Orr & Co., London. The illustration was based on an original drawing by Frederick William Smith, who also made the lithographic plate. Smith was an artist and engraver who did many of the illustrations for Paxton.
