The 28th Tubbercurry Old Fair Day Festival promises a host of entertainment for all the family to enjoy over the five days celebrating Irish produce, music, heritage and crafts. Enjoy the opening celebrations on Saturday, the family fun day on Sunday, a host of activities on Monday and Tuesday to suit young and old, to the highlight of the festival, the Old Fair Day on Wednesday.
The Festival will take place within the Sligo Borough and its environs, delivering a free open air music festival in Stephen Street car park featuring some of Irelands best musical talents on the weekend of August 9th and 10th. Strandhill Surf Festival will take place between August 3rd – 5th in Strandhill Village. Strandhill Surf Festival is set to attract many top class surfers to the area over the course of the Bank Holiday Weekend. During the festivities, there will be a surfing competition for visitors to view. For those who prefer to stay on land, during Strandhill Surf Festival, there will be skate/BMX jam taking place.
Sligo is throwing one big party. The party is for everyone and has innumerable events to suit all ages and musical preferences ensuring that both festival goers and promoters alike will enjoy local hospitality at its best. The entertainment for this year is international, exciting and varied; there is an amazing line up of 140 events in over 50 venues. The good news is 98% of it is free!
The Celtic Tenors are playing a concert in Sligo at the Radisson Blu Hotel on Saturday July 27th. The Swagman Bar presents Swagstock 2013 bringing you 15 days of Peace & Music. Live music acts featuring The Swagjammers, Groovology, The Craic Addicts and many more will play over the duration of the 15 days.

There are two National Play Day events with a European theme organized for Saturday July 6th 2013, one takes place in Sligo Central Library whilst the other will be held in Ballymote Community Library. As part of The Gathering 2013, a three day event – the 14th Annual Carmel Gunning Summer School Festival of Irish Music and Song will take place in Sligo town and Geevagh, Co. Sligo. on the 6th, 7th and 10th August next.
A Trad Night of music,song and dance in aid of North West Hospice, will take place in Muddy Burns Pub, Castleconnor, Co. Sligo on Saturday August 3rd starting at 9pm. All proceeds from the event will be donated to North West Hospice located in Sligo Town. On the night, the will be a waltzing competition, raffle and finger food. With great prizes up for grabs, it sure to be a night to remember.
The first Mullaghmore Sessions music festival took place in Mullaghmore, Co. Sligo in 2012. The bands featured included the best of local and national talent all taking to the main stage in the festival marquee. The 2013 event, set in the seaside village of Mullaghmore, will be a four day celebration of music and song embracing the very best of local and national rock, folk and chart sounds.

Tread Softly returns to Sligo for its second year. The stories of Nobel Prize winning poet, William Butler, painter Jack B. Yeats, embroiderer Susan and fine press printer Elizabeth will be brought to life over 16 days of music, theatre, exhibitions, spoken word and the return of the hugely successful Yeats’ Vintage Day, which sees the whole town dressed in the fashions of the time. Actors hit heights for Yeats in the wild
Sligo’s Blue Raincoat Theatre Company are set to peform a one-off performance of WB Yeats’ play Purgatory atop Knocknarea mountain on Saturday 6 July.
