Grew up in Redondo Beach, California. Went to Whittier College after graduating from Redondo Union High School in 1966. Studied History and Physical Education and graduated with a BA and began my teaching career at Sierra High School in Whittier in 1971. Taught and coached basketball there until 1973 and then moved to Yorba Linda, California to teach at Esperanza High School. Was married in 1972 to Celesta McCann, who I had met while attending Wh
